Tips For Riding in Northern Namibia
- Don't overload your motorcycle, only carry what you will need, the rest can stay in the vehicles.
- Put an inline filter on your motorcycle, this will prevent dirt and debris from entering your carburettor or fuel pump.
- Make sure your feet can comfortably touch the ground. There will be places where the terrain is very technical and rocky.
- Practice sand riding before the trip, you will encounter stretches of sand on this trip.
- Make sure you carry, and are able to change a punctured tube in the veld, you can patch the punctured tube when you get to camp.
- Make sure you drink enough fluids! Due to the heat and difficult terrain, you can very easily get dehydrated, without noticing, until it is too late. We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep hydrated on this trip!
- Wear comfortable riding gear, it is not ideal to test new gear on a long bike trip.
- Make sure that you have a spare key for your motorcycle. We can keep it for you, in a locked safe, in the back-up vehicle.
Frequently Asked Questions

- We will always have fuel in the back up vehicle that follows the riders - You will never run out of fuel because of your bike's small fuel tank.
- You will not starve - Ask the riders that have done this tour for advice in this regard.
- There are cell phone signal in many of the areas we traverse. You will be able to speak to your loved ones almost every day.
